Searchlight Display

Until I came across this card I had forgotten these displays so much a feature of Summer Evenings in the late '40s and early '50s

The Searchlights were located on the Nothe, around Portland Harbour Breakwater and aboard Naval Vessels in Portland Harbour.

I can recall their sweeping movements, ironic how these lights which were originally meant to protect went on to provide entertainment.
