Weymouth in old postcards and photographs

Sailors Coming Ashore on Leave

It is Friday afternoon and the Navy hits Town!

This picture by Seward captures one of those moments known to so many Weymouth Folk.
A weekends leave is just beginning, those with parcels and bags are off to the Railway Station to visit wives, sweethearts and family, those with no baggage will soon be found in one of the many pubs, some would spend the night at 'Aggie Westons'

No doubt the Shore Patrols would have been busy by closing time.

This probably dates from either just before 1914 or more likely just after 1918.
