Weymouth in old postcards and photographs

Great Western Locomotive 'Savernake'

This is a magnificent 4-4-0 locomotive of the Great Western Railway, just look at the size of the driving wheels and that glorious dome .
Carrying the number 3308 and named 'Savernake' it was later re-numbered as 4116.
Built at the Great Western Works at Swindon in December 1898 and a member of the 'Badminton' class

I believe the houses in the left background are in Cassiobury Road as the Engine Shed was located adjacent to Ranelagh Road near to Charles St.

The photographer is Edwin Seward of Weymouth who also published postcards of Royal Nany Ships.
