The Harbour circa 1900

In this view from the turn of the last century we see the harbour with many sailing ships, probably the last ships under sail to use the harbour. The cargoes were mainly timber from the Baltic.

To the left we have Old Weymouth and to the right Old Melcombe for many years the two communities were in constant dispute often resulting in violence.
