Lodmoor - The Glidaboat Lake

These are great pictures, I was not aware that such a lake existed at Lodmoor. I assume the boats are low powered electric or petrol but would welcome any information.

The lake appears to be quite close to the road and I think it was located approximately where the Aquarium is today.

Quite a crowd looking on or awaiting their turn.

The Gent sporting the trilby in the right hand picture also has his pipe firmly clenched between his teeth!!
The Glida Motor Boat Co Ltd. was based at 41 High St., Southend on Sea. All that I have been able discover about the firm is that it was struck from the Companies Register on the 5th. September 1950
