Esplanade - Late 1890s

The statue of Sir Henry Edwards erected in 1885, the town's MP for a number of years and a great benefactor. From the condition of the statue I would suggest this photograph was taken not too many years after completion.

However it is the Georgian houses which fascinate, all appear to be in their original condition and what a variety of architectural styles.
