This fine aerial view is another from the Kestins catalogue, unfortunately this reproduction does not do the original justice. Given the lack of people on the Beach and sands we can assume it is not the summer and with the tide at low water the wind would appear to be from the West It can be dated between 1939(when the Pier Bandstand was opened) and 1956 as the tower of Christchurch can be clearly seen, the latter having being demolished in 1956. Other landmarks are the gasholder in Westwey Road and adjacent is the chimney for the Power Station in Stavordale Road. |
