Weymouth In Old Postcards and Photographs

St. Pauls Harriers

St. Pauls Church is in Abbotsbury Road and I can recall the St. Pauls Harriers from the 1950s.

These athletes were members in the 1913/1914 season when they won The Hambro Challenge Cup.

They are: Back Row; F. Payne, L.Uncles, H. Young, R. Hall, C. Bartlett, J. Keech, R. Bazell,
T. Bazell.
Middle Row;
Rev. Martin Fisher, F. Palmer, B. Woodward, T.Wellard, J. Bridgeman,
W. Barrett, N.Reed, H.Shaw, E. Lovell, W.L.Simmons (Handicapper), T.H. Prankherd (Hon. Sec & Treasurer)
Front Row; W. Anderson, R. Brown, R.T. Wellman, G. Bazell (Captain), C. New (sub Captain),
W. Brantingham, R. Lovell.

I wonder if the W. Brantingham (2nd. Right Front Row) is the same Billy Brantingham who owned the Grocers Shop in Lennox St.

I imagine that many of these young men would have served in the First World War.
On checking the names on The Cenotaph in Weymouth I found two F. Palmers,one R. Brown
and one C. I New inscribed
