This is one of
the oldest photographs in my collection. This view was taken between 1878 when the Tea Cabin, then known as The Cab Mens Shelter, was opened and 1888. The latter date being when The Jubilee Clock was unveiled., The Clock Tower is not visible in this picture. There is a gap in the Esplanade bounded by the railings where the large poster Site is standing. Presumably to allow access and egress to the sands by the Bathing saloons. |
