I found this picture on an American site and it shows American Landing craft moored in Weymouth Harbour in 1945, presumably after the War.

So many young Americans made that historic journey across to 'Omaha Beach' in Normandy, many never to return.

A visit to the American Cemetery just behind Omaha beach is one a most moving experience.

They so richly deserve the honour paid to them all since that historic day in June 1944.
